I guess you have to live in a major city if you want to have easy access to a VA care center.
I understand that veterans living in smaller towns often must travel as much as 100 miles to get VA care.

Will the VA reimburse you for cost if you visit a doctor in your own town?

You didn't state where you live nor the biggest town, but here in Arizona, Phoenix area, in the small towns there are van's that you make arrangements with and then they take a group. I know of one friend who drives for Prescott,AZ and it's an 9 to 10 hour day for him.

I would call your VA office to find out. No---there is no reinburstment if you see you own doctor. I've been going to the VA doctors for over 40 years, but that is another story in it self.

I can't understand why you haven't contacted your local VA???????? :?:
