The board is fixed and active again!

As of August 5, 2017, this board is functioning once again. :D I regret not getting around to doing all the updates much sooner, but it is always a project to do. Something always seems to cause problems and this time was no exception. I still need to fix cosmetic issues but functionality is all the...

Great Website for VA information

Really informative website http://www.vawatchdog.org/ I'm turning 65 in a few months and have been using the VA for my health services for the last 10 years. Now with Medicare coming up I am getting bombarded with Medicare Supplemental, Medicare Advantage offers. I found this article very informati...

Re: Repro Platoon ~ 1965-1966 The Beginning.......

Hi John, Looking forward to more of your story... I'm glad I got there after the rats were under control... :-) Was there ever any talk or knowledge about whether agent orange was used to defoliate the Camp Mcdermott area? I know some of the guys feel agent orange may be responsible for health issue...

I had my hip replaced by the V.A. April 27th 2011

I had my hip replaced by the V.A. April 27th 2011 at the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital (MOFH) - VA Southern Nevada by Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Richard Briggs. I can't say enough what a success the surgery was. I feel a new lease on my life. The whole process was so smooth and the VA was great. It ...

Re: Old TOPO Warrior

Hi Mike, Glad you stopped in. We unfortunately don't get a lot of action on the board. I guess our age demographic isn't too computer oriented. I left Nam after my pot bust with just over the 6 months left needed to get an early out (thanks to the C.O. and First Sergeant) and was sent to the 63rd En...

Re: R.I.P: Ken Wilkinson - Carto 68-69

I remember Ken was good guy. Easy going and pleasant. Social but not a crazy party guy. It broke me up when I saw his photo. How old was he? Such a shame. I don't remember that much about Ken, where he was from or anything and he never did sign up on the site. Its funny though... when I heard the na...

Re: Jerry Goodson - Carto - 65 to 67

Hey Jerry, I enjoyed reading your post, and am happy you found us. I came in shortly after you left... everyone was just moving into the wooden barracks when I got there, so I never had the pleasure that I'm sure living in tent city must have been. I too came over as a map compiler, and worked in th...

Karl Amereller Re: Agent Orange, Cancer, Total Disability

(this post also appears in Karl's bio area) Just a note to say that I heard from Karl a couple of weeks ago. He had interesting things to say about his VA experiences. He sounded great and is doing well considering the hardships that have faced him. We had a great talk and he promised to send some p...
